Help Us End Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a complex, expensive, and time-consuming disease caused by a defective gene that produces thick, sticky mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. In the lungs, mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria, leading to infections, extensive lung damage, and respiratory failure. 


The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is a global leader in the quest to find a cure for CF, funding a wide range of research initiatives aimed at addressing every aspect of the disease. While significant progress has been made, much work remains to be done. 

More than 40,000 people in the U.S. are living with CF, and that number will continue to grow as more people live longer because of the advancement of new therapies. 

Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. Some community members are thriving, while others do not benefit from existing therapies, either because their disease is too advanced or because their specific genetic mutations will not respond and face greater challenges. 


Fundraising is vital to ensuring the continued progress of CF research. Despite the achievements, there is no cure, and people with CF continue to lose their lives to this disease. 


Now is the time to act. We are on the brink of extraordinary breakthroughs in CF research, but funding is critical to push the mission forward. Fundraising not only helps with current research but also invests in the future, making it possible for us to reach the ultimate goal—a cure.

CF touches more lives than one might realize, with 1 in 31 people in the U.S. being carriers of the CF gene. 

Thanks to breakthroughs in research and treatments, the median life expectancy for someone born with CF today has doubled in the last 30 years and continues to climb; but median does not mean everyone.
