“COLLEEN’S CREW”
Dear Family and Friends,
On Sunday, May 19th, Colleen's Crew will be walking in our 27th Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis. As always, our walk will be held at Baker Park in downtown Frederick, MD and we hope you will be able to join us as we continue our journey to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Great food and the annual Colleen's Crew T-shirt awaits you and we hope to see you there.
As I know I have mentioned before, Colleen's Crew has raised in excess of $1,000,000 but what many of you may not know is exactly how we have been able to do that. As you might imagine, the Great Strides Walk is responsible for the lion's share of those proceeds and there have been several "All-Stars" over the years that have taken an especially proactive approach, for which we are eternally grateful, and they include Molly's sisters Mary Beth and Kathy. Without mentioning names, there have been others that have made significant donations over the years and we remain humbled by your generosity.
There have also been countless other events that have helped us reach this incredible milestone. Friends have hosted Kentucky Derby parties, Colleen and her classmates held several "Color-Runs", we have participated in and hosted several golf tournaments and the "Colleen's Crew" boat has sailed for the past 4 years in Carroll Creek just to name a few. None of these would be possible without an incredibly creative and generous group of friends and I thought it long overdue to thank the Kinley's and Ballantyne's who have had their hands in just about every event listed above.
All of this time, energy and effort put in by so many has made a real difference in the lives of those affected by Cystic Fibrosis. When Colleen was born they told us her life expectancy may be around 21 years of age and today, that life expectancy exceeds 50 years which is remarkable. Despite this progress, we don't have a cure and there remains a subset of patients that do not benefit from these latest
advancements and our mission remains to continue try and raise money and awareness so that all those born with CF can live long and healthy lives.
As many of you know, Colleen continues to thrive and she has become an incredibly active advocate for CF, often speaking at various CF Events and fundraisers. We are amazed at her strength and poise despite her condition and we have each of you to thank for the progress that has been made that has allowed her and others like her to flourish against all odds.
For those of you who wish to continue to support Colleen's Crew, please click the donate button on this page and know that we will always appreciate the support you have shown.
Thanks and God Bless!
Pat, Molly, Kelly, Jimmy, Owen, Colleen and Bridget
