Every 2021 CF Foundation event will feature several virtual components and experiences to help make a difference for people living with cystic fibrosis. The CF Foundation will also host a very small number of in-person events that can safely be held outdoors, including our Fall Gateway Xtreme Hike.

The Hikers Journey
The journey starts the moment you sign up. You will receive personal coaching, participate in training hikes, and connect with a community of people who share your aspiration to reach new heights.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Xtreme Hike program is about reaching new heights physically and philanthropically. It is a journey of passion, determination, and personal triumph, as much as it is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people with cystic fibrosis. What makes the Gateway Xtreme Hike Unique?
This year we are hiking at a NEW location and hope you’ll join us for this truly inspiring event experience!
Included in Your Hike Experience:
The Gateway Chapter’s Xtreme Hike at Lake of the Ozarks State Park will be a weekend to remember! All hikers will enjoy accommodations for three days and two nights at The Lodge of the Four Seasons. This includes an energizing, pre-hike pasta party, pre-hike breakfast, post party dinner and a “Victory” brunch on Sunday. As participants prepare for the physical challenge, hikers are encouraged to raise $2,500 through their personal and social media campaigns.
The journey of participation includes:
- 10 weeks of training hikes (view Training Calendar)
- Daily workout calendar
- Accommodations for 3 days and 2 nights
- Transportation to and from the trail on Hike day
- Aid stations along the trail stocked with refreshing food and beverages
- Official Xtreme Hike wicking shirt Pre-hike pasta party
- Prior to sunrise hike breakfast Post hike dinner and reception Victory breakfast
How to Participate:
Register. Register and participate in this year’s Xtreme Hike event and help us stay the course and advance our mission in an uncertain time.
Register to hike safely in-person. We are excited to be hosting a one day in-person local hike experience. With the safety and well-being of our community in mind we will require that all those who wish to attend must register on our website, no walk-up registration will be available. Select “Hiker” when registering for the event.
Or, Register as a Virtual Hiker. While we would not be together in person, we will be together in spirit, showing the strength of our community and passion to find a cure for all people living with cystic fibrosis. Select Virtual Hiker when registering for the event.
Recruit. Recruit others to participate with you! Friends, family, and co-workers can join you virtually from anywhere in the world.
Fundraise. Fundraise online by leveraging the tools in the Participant Center, the Fight CF mobile app, and Fundraise on Facebook to reach your goal. Also refer to our Fundraising Trail. Create a virtual passion fundraising event by developing a fundraising event through your favorite hobby, activity, or passion.
Suggested Fundraising Minimum: $2,500
Share your Journey. Wear an Xtreme Hike shirt, team shirt, or your Cystic Fibrosis Foundation branded apparel, while you hike on your own local trail or within your neighborhood! Track your activity on the Fight CF mobile app so you can hike with others participating in the event and across the country. Share how you decided to hike this year by sharing your story and posting a selfie on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Make sure to tag the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (@CF_Foundation) and use the hashtag #XtremeHike to keep the energy and momentum going strong!
