My Team CF Story

  • Emily, Nate, and I running a Santa 5K in Madison 4ish years ago. We went into a bar on the route and had a drink halfway through this run--that unfortunately won't be happening during the marathon.
  • My little running buddy

Hi!

I am so excited to run the 2020 Chicago Marathon with Team CF Superheroes. I cannot wait to run with one of my very best friends, Emily Kurtz, in what will be both of our first marathon!

I really never thought I'd run a marathon...and it's okay, I understand if you're all also probably a little shocked by this as well. But, this cause means a lot to me and being able to run in support of it is DEFINITELY worth cutting down on my weekly Mountain Dew intake and hours spent watching Vanderpump Rules.

Emily's fiance, Nate, is one of the 30,000 Americans living with CF. I've known Emily since elementary school, and I met Nate on the same day that they met many years ago. Sure, Emily may have met the person she would end up marrying that day, but I met a new BFF in Nate, so I'd consider myself pretty lucky as well. Nate's constant positive attitude and adventurous spirit have always been things I've admired about him. Nate and Emily both mean so much to me, and I am really excited to run for this cause.

Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic, life-shortening disease. Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease, but together, we can help add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis.

I'd so appreciate if you are able to donate to my fundraising campaign. Your gift will contribute to incredibly important research for potentially life-changing treatments, as well as medical and educational programs for people who are affected by Cystic Fibrosis. Your donation means so much to me, and I am so grateful for every cent that is contributed to this incredibly important foundation.

Thank you again, ANY amount helps and would mean the world to me. Now let's just hope that when October rolls around, I can go even half as fast as Bennie did when she had her little runaway adventure last year :)
