Our Team CF Story

Aloha Friends,

             Our family needs your support to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a life taking genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system of those born with this condition. Our son Seamus has CF.  Because of the research funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) he has been able to enjoy a healthy childhood and has not been too negatively impacted by Cystic Fibrosis. Seamus’s typical day consists of 2-3 nebulized and percussion vest breathing treatments that take about an hour each. These treatments keep his lungs clear and his breathing from becoming labored, in addition he has to take digestive enzymes with every meal. As Seamus grows older, CF will cause irreversible damage to his lungs and he will likely develop diabetes as a result of damage to his pancreases. Not the best picture but there is hope, and this does not have to be his future.

            The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has funded and led the way in research to improve quality of life and longevity for people with CF. A recently developed breakthrough medication, Kaleidico, has the ability to eradicate the symptoms of CF for a portion of individuals with CF. Unfortunately for Seamus his specific mutation of CF is non-responsive to Kaledico. Continued research and development are needed to address the number of CF mutations that are not able to be managed completely with the currently available medications and treatments. This will require funding and support for additional research, this is also where you can help. A cure is close at hand, please help us discover it.
