About Xtreme Hike

Every Xtreme Hike participant is driven by a dream that all people with cystic fibrosis should have the chance to live a long, healthy life. By joining us at Yosemite Xtreme Hike, you can help make a difference for people living with CF.

At Yosemite Xtreme Hike, hikers are supported by trained hike guides from YExplore, leading them safely throughout the trail from beginning to end. You can expect breathtaking views, a wealth of knowledge from your guides, to meet new friends, and to share stories on the trail. You will be supported and encouraged in making it to your personal summit – all while fundraising to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

2024 Trail Options

This year, we have two incredible trails to offer our hikers! Please see details on both trail options below:

Trail 1: 20 Miles | 4,120 Elevation Gain

Hikers will embark on a 20-mile hike through the beautiful Yosemite National Park. The hike will begin at McGurk Meadow trailhead where they will make their way north along the McGurk Meadow Trail until they intersect with the Pohono Trail. Hikers will follow the Pohono Trail west and make their way to Dewey Point. These trails are a great mix of both meadow and forest scenery. At Dewey Point, hikers will have fantastic views looking down on Yosemite Valley, especially at El Capitan. After Dewey Point, they will make their way back on the Pohono Trail and head east to Taft Point and then onto Sentinel Dome. These two outlooks are some of the best viewpoints Yosemite has to offer. Hikers will take in breathtaking views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls. Then, hikers will make their way to the final outlook, Glacier Point, which is arguably the most spectacular view in the park. At Glacier Point, hikers will be able to see Half Dome, Yosemite’s high country mountain range, and overhead views of Yosemite Valley. After soaking it all in, hikers will make their way from Glacier Point along the Pohono Trail and south along the McGurk Meadow Trail to the McGurk Meadow trailhead.

Trail 2: 13 Miles | 2,350 Elevation Gain

Hikers will embark on a 13-mile hike through the beautiful Yosemite National Park. The hike will begin at McGurk Meadow trailhead where they will make their way North along the McGurk Meadow Trail until it hits the Pohono Trail. Hikers will follow the Pohono Trail West and make their way to Dewey Point. These trails are a great mix of both meadow and forest scenery. At Dewey Point, hikers will have fantastic views looking down on Yosemite Valley, especially at El Capitan. After Dewey Point, they will make their way back on the Pohono Trail and head east to Taft Point. At Taft Point, hikers will take in breathtaking views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls. After soaking it all in, hikers will make their way back along the Pohono Trail and south along the McGurk Meadow Trail to the McGurk Meadow trailhead.
