About Xtreme Hike
Every Xtreme Hike participant is driven by a dream that all people with cystic fibrosis should have the chance to live a long, healthy life. By joining us at Xtreme Hike, you can help make a difference for people living with CF.
At Yosemite Xtreme Hike, hikers are supported by trained hike guides from YExplore, leading them safely throughout the trail from beginning to end. You can expect breathtaking views, a wealth of knowledge from your guides, to meet new friends, and to share stories on the trail. You will be supported and encouraged in making it to your personal summit – all while fundraising to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
2023 Trail Options
This year, we have two incredible trails to offer our hikers! Please see details on both trails below:
Trail 1: 22 Miles
This option is our most Xtreme, but it offers all of the breathtaking views you hope to see in Yosemite! Beginning at 4400 feet of elevation at Tunnel View, the Pohono Trail will take you up about 3000 feet over 13 miles. At 13 miles, you'll stop to have lunch at Glacier Point and be richly rewarded with one of the most spectacular views of Half Dome in the park. The first half of this hike will show you famous landmarks (Half Dome, Sentinel and Cathedral Rocks), gorgeous waterfalls (Vernal, Nevada, Yosemite, Bridalveil Falls) and scenic overlooks of the valley (Glacier, Taft, Dewey, Crocker, Stanford, and Inspiration Point). From Glacier Point, you will continue on the Panorama Trail which will bring you to the Happy Isle Trailhead in another 8.5 miles. The Panorama Trail is mostly downhill with a few small climbs mixed in.
Trail 2: 13 Miles
Hikers will take the Four Mile Trail (4.8 miles & 3,200 ft elevation gain) to Glacier Point. This trail begins near the base of Sentinel Rock and climbs to the top of Yosemite Valley at Glacier Point. The trail maintains a continuous steep grade, following the path of an old toll trail that was completed in 1872. At Glacier Point, there will be access to restrooms and you will have a beautiful view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and the High Sierra. On the way up, you will also be able to see Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls. From Glacier Point, you will continue on the Panorama Trail which will bring you to the Happy Isle Trailhead in another 8.5 miles. The Panorama Trail is mostly downhill with a few small climbs mixed in.
When you register to participate in Xtreme Hike, you are committing to reach the suggested fundraising goal of $2,500. We hope that you will exceed this goal and are available to assist you in succeeding in your fundraising and training!
