Our Xtreme Hike Story

In 2017, Maria joined the Xtreme Hike in St. Louis, Missouri. At that time, she had no personal connection to cystic fibrosis (CF), but figured that raising money for an amazing cause while also getting to hike the natural areas around St. Louis was a win-win. Fast forward to 2023: now, Maria has an amazing friend named Will, who she met in grad school, who has CF. Will is a fantastic person - a champion of fighting for a healthier planet, a great dog-dad to Stanley, an enjoyer of pastries and an incredibly optimistic, uplifting friend. Also new in 2023 is that Maria's supportive and hiker-extraordinaire partner, Dominick, will be fundraising and training for the September hike, too. We can't wait to hike with members of the CF community, and we are greatly appreciative of any and all donations toward our fundraiser and, ultimately, finding a cure for this rare, genetic, life-shortening disease.
