Our Xtreme Hike Story

WELCOME TO ELENA'S ENTOURAGE TEAM PAGE!

​Thank you for taking the time to read about our event and why we do this.  As you may know, we do this for my daughter Elena who has cystic fibrosis - an inherited lung disease. Praise God, Elena is in great health!  That would not be the case without the CF Foundation though.  Thanks to their drug R&D they have - since their founding in 1955 - increased the life expectancy of those with CF from 5 to 65!  Elena would not have lived to age 3 without all the Foundation has done.  We hike to say THANK YOU to the CF Foundation and to help them continue their search for a cure.

This photo of our 2021 hike team (Nate & Sara Goonasekeram, Marianne Panke, Beth Sworobuk, Rose & Matt Jochum, and me) gives you a taste of what the hike is like: blue skies, beautiful views, lively conversations, lots of laughs, some singing, and a few blisters and aches.  All in all, it is a fabulous experience that leaves you feeling rewarded for having done something difficult while also helping so many.

I'd like to show you our 2022 Xtreme Hike team photo but it does not exist.  For the first time in the 10-years of the DC Chapter's Xtreme Hike, it was rained out. Despite Hurricane Ian, half of the hikers drove the 5-hours and managed to hike 11-miles in a hurricane!  Talk about Xtreme.  My brother Bob was one of those fearless hikers.  Thanks, Bob, for representing Elena's Entourage!

• FUNDRAISING IS ENCOURAGED BUT NOT REQUIRED (I'LL DO THAT FOR YOU.)
• EVENTS BEGIN 9/29 AND CONCLUDE 10/1
