My Xtreme Hike Story
Hi Friends and Family,
This summer my dear friend KC asked if I would join her on a fundraising hike for Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent
lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. KC is one of the 40,000 people in the
US who live with CF.
When KC was diagnosed with CF in 1981 her life expectancy was only 15 years old. Because of
advances in research funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation the median age of survival is now
53 years old. Over the last 18 years, I have seen the ways that CF has impacted KC’s life. I have
seen her at her sickest – times when she needed to be in the hospital and simply walking upstairs
was a challenge. More recently however, I have seen how KC’s life has been changed for the
better by treatments that have been funded in part by the CF Foundation.
So much progress has been made but there is still more to do and that it why I am hiking to raise
funds for the CFF this Saturday. Any support you may be able to provide would be so
appreciated - no donation is too small! Thank you!!
