My Xtreme Hike Story
The first picture shows me with Catherine in September of 2015 as we are departing on our regular bike ride to the Honeysuckle Tea House in the country outside of Chapel Hill about 5 miles away. It is not an easy ride, a lot of up and down and extended rises to deal with. She never flagged. Her determination and grit in getting there were impressive. She loved the tea house. It was an oasis from the busyness of life, a quiet, calm, and carefree, outpost where she spent time reading, writing, and watching. Between the house, the various gardens, and the people, there was always something inspiring to behold. The second picture is a visual manifestation of one of Catherine's most brilliant ideas, Cousin Camp. From left to right are: Oscar Stehlin, Lucy Comello, Clara Stehlin, and Elliot Watras sitting in Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati. The camp was a week over the summer for cousins to get together and have a blast, and Catherine was the perfect ringleader! Oscar is now a PFC in the USMC and Clara is exploring her options for college. They both have bright, bright futures. Catherine would be very proud!
This year we hike Sky Meadows Park in Delaplane, VA. Catherine will be watching over us all and urging me, eternally, to "Go! Mojo Jojo!". Through the hike we continue to love and honor her and work to help others who still struggle with CF. Please consider making a donation or providing some encouragement in support of our efforts this year.
