My Xtreme Hike Story
Going 4 Brooke...that is the reason I hike. My cousin was diagnosed with this life altering condition at a very young age. That fact never defined her. Even now when I think of her, it's not the breathing vest, the cough or the hospital visits that come to mind. It's her amazing laugh and beaming smile that brightened anyone's day who was lucky enough to witness them. It's the times of lounging on the couch or of getting dressed up with no place to go. It's reading books at the beach and sitting by a fire drinking Mt. Dew. These treasured memories of my best friend are what keep me striving to find a cure.
This year continues to be unpredictable for all of us for many reasons. This hike has become my "normal" way to remember and honor Brooke. I am eager to once again do it for her!
