Our Xtreme Hike Story

As you may know, cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, pancreas, liver, sinuses and other organs. In 1997, when our family first learned this disease affected our children, Matt and Melissa, the average age of survival was 18 years.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made tremendous progress happen since then, and there are now treatments for managing and living with CF as a serious chronic disease rather than a certain childhood killer. We have come so incredibly far, but we are not done. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and our family, will not stop working until all people with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.

This year, we are trying to raise $50,000 without hosting a major event, and we would really appreciate your support. To make a donation, just click on the DONATE button. If you are interested in a casual hike with us, we will be doing a Weiner Walk in the Woods on Saturday, October 21 starting at 9 am. The hike will start and end at our house and will be about 3 -4 miles on the trails surrounding our neighborhood. Afterwards, you are welcome to enjoy a light breakfast! Because of your past generosity at X-Treme Hike, Weiner Roast, Great Strides, and Casino Night, our family has celebrated so many joyful life events, like Melissa's upcoming graduation with her Master's Degree.
