Posse Update! May 7, 2022

Hey friends and family!

A quick update on some exciting Posse news. Patrick has officially registered for the 2022 Xtreme Hike, thus making our 10th year all that much more special!

Hard to believe it was almost 10 years ago, when Posse took it’s first steps trudging up and down the Berkshire mountains. Little did we know that Patrick would have his first scary hospitalization just a few months later, and two sinus surgeries to follow within just three years. Patrick’s battle with CF has had it’s hurdles, but we count our blessings as we know there are many in our CF community who face bigger trials, harder days, and glimmers of hope are not easy to find.

I couldn’t be prouder to have Patrick on the trail with us this year. I’m sure he will blaze ahead from his slow but steady Mom, as it should be. A metaphor for my dream of him forging ahead, marking his own life's journey, despite the challenges of Cystic Fibrosis.

Your donations over the years have brought progress and treatments to the CF community that were not available just 10 years ago. Patrick started the breakthrough drug Trikafta in December of 2019. Since then, his health has been exceptional and his college experience all that it should be….and more! THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to so many who have donated to me thus far! It fuels my determination and curbs my fear just slightly! I’ll send one more update before we start the Jiminy Peak climb on Saturday, June 4th, at 4am - yikes!

Bursting with gratitude,
Diane, Jim, Elizabeth, & Patrick, and our hiking Posse!

$421,000 raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Will you help us summit to $500K on our 10th Anniversary?

Hello friends and family,

Patrick’s Posse will hit the CF Xtreme Hike trail again on Saturday, June 4th. Hard to believe this will be our 10th year in the woods!

If not for the generosity of so many that have donated over the years to develop the next generation of treatments and medications, Patrick's life would be very different than the active young BC rugby All Star he has become. His health remains excellent since starting the breakthrough Vertex drug Trikafta in the fall of 2019.

We have much to celebrate. Life expectancy for people with cystic fibrosis has doubled in the past 30 years. Babies born today are expected to live until their mid-40s, thanks to the many, many advancements in medicine. As joyful as we are for these advancements, it's not enough. Lung infections remain scary, as each exacerbation does permanent, irreversible damage to the lungs. Even a "healthy" CF patient is susceptible and struggles with this. In addition, there are many individuals in our CF community who have yet to have a drug to help with their particular CF genotype. We want every CF family to experience the progress Patrick has been so fortunate to have.

Your generosity and support over the years has been remarkable. It has made ALL these advances possible. You have funded research and science, and this research and science has given years of life to our community.

If you can, please consider donating again to continue the progress we have seen. We are so close to finding a cure for this terrible disease.

All our gratitude!

Diane, Jim, Elizabeth & Patrick
