My Xtreme Hike Story
During my professional career I have been fortunate to work on drug development programs focused on advancing new therapies for patients living with CF. This has allowed me to meet and interact with patients and caregivers, and to collaborate and work with scientists and doctors who directly benefit from the work of the CF Foundation. Being able to forge and develop this relationships is one of the most rewarding aspects of working in this field and it has spurred me to continue to work on developing new drugs for patients living with rare diseases.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much work to do.
My first hike was in 2016 and this will be my 5th year hiking!
The major reason I hike, and have come back each year, are the people – the patients and families who live every day with this disease, who take on these challenges and do so with a spirit, grace and power that is truly inspiring. I hike to try to do a small part to help these families because their stories and optimism and fearlessness help give me perspective and clarity in my own life. This feeling has only been renewed and strengthened each year that I have participated in this incredible event.
I hope that you will consider supporting my fundraising effort in 2022!
No gift or support is too small and any support you can provide will help add tomorrows to the lives of people living with CF. Thank you for your thoughts and consideration in supporting my fundraising.
