My Xtreme Hike Story
The Carroll Family
Lucas!!
Jay and I are hiking again this year for Lucas, our amazing son who is living with Cystic Fibrosis. He was born on April 2, 2013 with a Double Delta F508 strand of CF. This is the most common but severe strand a person can have. Lucas is pancreatic insufficient and can take anywhere from 25-35 pills a day when he eats on top of other medication. Lucas does two nebulizer treatments and about 30 mins a day of airway clearance. Lucas is just about a year into taking Trikafta(a CF Medicine) and is doing amazing!! He is truly the strongest person we know.
If you know Lucas he is one incredible little kid. He has overcome so many challenges and is thriving. He loves soccer and basketball with all of his heart and hopes to play professional soccer when he gets older!! He is loving, kind, funny, determined, passionate, and loves a good challenge!! Jason and I are so lucky to watch him and Grace grow up!! I vowed the day he was born that I would never stop fighting for him and I haven't.
I am hiking 26 miles to show Lucas that he doesn't have to fight alone. I am pushing myself to accomplish this challenge and raise money as this is one day of my life compared to everyday of his!! That I may not know what its like to take medicine or be faced with certain challenges but I know what it takes to make up and down this mountain. I am doing this to show Lucas all the love and support he receives and the future he will have!!
Please consider making a donation to our team to help us meet our goal of $5000.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. I hike for them. Will you join me and support my fundraising goal?
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much work to do. I will not stop hiking until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
Please support me!
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of cystic fibrosis and your support matters. With your help, we can invest our resources in research today, while raising funds for tomorrow, to ensure we have what it takes to reach the finish line. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by donating to my Xtreme Hike fundraising campaign today!
