My Xtreme Hike Story
Ellie holding the pills she swallows daily
Two years ago I shared the exciting news that babies born with cystic fibrosis in 2021 were expected to live to their mid-40s, a tremendous gain from the 31 years that we were told when Ellie was born in 2005. Just last month the CF Foundation reported that the life expectancy of people with cystic fibrosis who were born between 2018 and 2022 is now 56 years old. Wow!!
Ellie graduated high school last week, and she'll head to Trinity College in Connecticut in September. We will send her off with excitement (and tears) because we genuinely believe she will be able to spend four years thriving in college, both academically and physically.
Whether you learned about CF recently, have walked/biked/hiked with us for a decade, or have been here with us since our beginning with this disease, it has ALL contributed to these amazing advancements.
I'll be participating in the Xtreme Hike to cure CF again this year, truly one of my favorite events, even though it gets harder and harder every year as I get less and less young if I'm being honest. If you're able to donate, please know that your gift is funding life-extending and life-improving research that is making HUGE differences is the lives of cystic fibrosis patients, including our Ellie.
Our family is grateful, thank you!
