My Xtreme Hike Story

In early 2016, my closest friend Carolyn's son, Kiran, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a rare genetic disease that affects approximately 40,000 Americans and just 100,000 people worldwide. Kiran is currently in 3rd grade and has remained in good health with the help of drug developments in recent years. Carolyn writes, "We count ourselves among the lucky. Kiran is thriving and responding well to the miracle drug Trikafta. He and Raj just celebrated their 9th birthday with a big win out on the soccer field. He has boundless energy for playing goalie, skiing, surfing, golf, Minecraft and any book he can get his hands on. You would never know from his outside appearance that internally things still don't work quite right even with the best of treatments out there...Due to the work of the Foundation, the life expectancy of someone born with CF is now 56 years old, more than doubling in recent years." 

Again, this June, I'm joining the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Team Kiran at the Xtreme Hike in MA to support Kiran, his family, and all the people effected by CF. While there has been major progress in treating the disease, there is still no cure. With your help and support, we can make a difference in the lives of so many.
