My Xtreme Hike Story
Dear family and friends,
It’s hard for me to believe, but I will be hiking my tenth Xtreme Hike for the Cure and this year, I am taking on a new challenge of hiking the Grand Canyon 23.5 miles from the South Rim to the North Rim in a single day.
Over the last nine years with your help, I have been able to raise over $75,000 for the Charlotte Xtreme Hike and as a local group, we have raised over Cure has raised over $5 million thru the Charlotte Xtreme Hike. These contributions will fund an incredible amount for research, care and support of the approximately 30,000 children and young adults living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in the United States including my nephew, Owen. This has been a great success, but there is still a long way to go. That is why I have signed up for my tenth Xtreme hike for the cure. With all of our help, we can change their lives and hopefully one day find a cure.
When the CF Foundation was founded five decades ago, children with CF were not expected to see their first day of elementary school. Today, more than 40 percent of the CF population is over the age of 18, and the median life expectancy is 37.5 years.
That's why I will love participating in the Xtreme Hike, because it gives me the opportunity to do my own small fundraising part. My fundraising challenge to you had a great response last year, so I will challenge you again this year: I will again match the donations I raise dollar for dollar up to $5,000! So, now I ask you to help me meet my fundraising goal of $10,000. Please donate what you can, $5, $25, $50 or more. No amount is too small (or too big)! You can make a donation online by copying and pasting the link provided below into your browser.
Please share Owen's story and that of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with your friends as well to help raise as much as we can to find a cure. Maybe give up your coffee for the week or give up a meal out. Any amount will help. No donation is considered too small.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting this important cause! We certainly understand if you have commitments that preclude you from contributing financially at this time, but would still greatly appreciate your prayers for Owen, his family and others with cystic fibrosis.
