My Xtreme Hike Story

In June 2024, I'm joining the Xtreme Hike to help make a difference in the fight against cystic fibrosis (CF). This relentless disease affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. The spectrum of symptoms varies from person to person, and as people with CF live longer, the complexity of their battle against this condition increases, often leading to serious health challenges.

As a practicing pharmacist, I've witnessed the daily struggles of patients with CF. Their courage and resilience have been my constant motivation to do more. My journey to help end CF extends beyond the pharmacy counter. While at the University of Missouri, I oversaw a variety of projects that focused on drug discovery specifically in CF, dedicating my efforts to finding innovative treatments that can alleviate the burden of CF. While significant progress has been made, with the development of over a dozen CF treatments, these are not cures, and not everyone can benefit from them. This is why I'm taking this challenging hike: to push further, to raise awareness, and to gather support for the ongoing battle against CF.
