My Xtreme Hike Story

Let US carry YOU rim to rim of the grand canyon! Frank and I are hiking rim to rim of the Grand Canyon this June 2024 to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and we want to take you with us. A donation of $25 will get one name on one of our hike packs through the world famous Grand Canyon. Your donation is tax deductible.

The news that crumbled us to pieces and has endlessly shaped our lives since our first child’s diagnosis in 2007, will be symbolically experienced physically in a 23.9 mile one day hike through the Grand Canyon. Like the Colorado River shaped the Grand Canyon, cystic fibrosis has cut, smoothed, built, deepened, and changed our perspective on life. 

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation represents science, research, and the people power behind medicine, therapies, treatments, and services that have changed our children's and in turn our families future. We want to give back to the foundation to continue to help people living with cystic fibrosis. The famous “Trikafta” drug that has kept our kids out of the hospital since 2019 is still not available to all genetic mutations of cf (and remains untenable cost wise for many patients), for that and the endless other services the CF Foundation provides we want to help.

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. By participating in Xtreme Hike, I am helping to end this disease for thousands of people impacted by CF.

Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues. 

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
