My Xtreme Hike Story
My Hike Story
#TeamIsabelle has always held a near and dear place in my life. I am extremely fortunate to have the Trokey family a part of my life since the day I was born. Mark is my God-Father and Dana is my “Fairy God-Mother”, and Isabelle and I have grown up alongside each other. Whether it was playing dress up together when the Trokey’s would visit us in Georgia, taking a weekend girls trip to Chicago together, listening to our dad’s tell old college stories in our basement while laughing so hard, and even traveling to Italy for Mark and Dana’s vow renewal. Seeing how much passion and drive Mark and Dana have to find a cure for CF is truly inspiring, and no matter what, there was never a time they didn’t show up for me, and that will forever be engraved in my heart. I have also seen Isabelle's progress through CF, but what shines the most is her grace and strength through it all. THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF PEOPLE WORK! AND WE MUST NOT STOP TILL THERE IS A CURE!
My dad, John Tierney, is coming up on his 10th year as a hiker for the Xtreme Hike. To grow up watching my dad’s dedication to Cystic Fibrosis research has made me so proud to be his daughter. No matter how busy the man gets, he’s always putting others needs before his own and is setting an example to all his colleagues, friends, and family on how important it is to give back. Alongside watching my dad, John has also turned his passion and drive towards getting AXIA involved too. Men and women from all over the country that are apart of AXIA have joined in on the Xtreme Hike and have shown such selflessness in their efforts for this organization. I am honored to be apart of #TeamAXIA
In the past, I have volunteered at several Xtreme Hikes and other Cystic Fibrosis events, and I am so pumped to be a hiker this year! I have grown a love and a passion for serving my community through serval organizations such as Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and even traveling to help build a community school garden for the children of Terriabla, Costa Rica. When I attended the University or Missouri-Columbia, I was part of the Chi Omega Fraternity, Rho- Alpha chapter. During my time as a Chi Omega I was on the philanthropy committee and also served as Rho-Alpha’s Director of Philanthropy, where we worked to grant wishes of Wish Kids through Make-A-Wish. Planning fundraising events, motivating all my sisters to get involved, and growing a relationship with our Wish family is one of my favorite memories of college.
Following my graduation from The University of Missouri- Columbia, I am a proud Keeley’n of Keeley Construction Group in St. Louis, MO! I could not be more gracious for Keeley’s dedication to values and culture, especially philanthropy. KeeleyCares is our philanthropic sector of Keeley where employees are encouraged to embrace community involvement by volunteering our time, talent, and treasure. I am pleased to introduce this event to Keeley, and thank all my coworkers in advance for their support
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, but by participating in Xtreme Hike, I am helping to end this disease for thousands of people impacted by CF. Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
Your support makes a difference.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you will help advance our mission for a cure for all. Please consider joining us and helping make CF stand for Cure Found.
