My Xtreme Hike Story
Why I Hike
Currently, there is no cure for cystic fibrosis. Treatments and therapies for helping to fight this disease have come a long way in the 25 years since Mackenzie was diagnosed. And though she has been doing well due to the new therapies, we are still not done with our fight to cure CF. I have been a volunteer for the Xtreme hike most of the last 12 years of this Gateway Chapter event. This year I participated in the 15-mile Xtreme Hike, to continue our fight for a cure for all those impacted by this disease.
Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
Your support makes a difference.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you will help advance our mission for a cure for all. Please consider joining us and helping make CF stand for Cure Found.
