My Xtreme Hike Story
My name is Rachael. I am a professional event coordinator, an avid adventurer, a hot chocolate connoisseur, and a cystic fibrosis warrior.
I was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth, 24 years ago. Living with this disease entails frequent hospital stays, dozens of medications, and hours of daily respiratory therapy treatments to maintain my health. Although challenging, living with this disease has also blessed me with an unbridled love of life, an appreciation of my "healthy" days, and a determination to make the most of every day. Hiking is one of the ways I stay committed to living an active lifestyle and infuse adventure into my wellness routine.
This September, I will be participating in the XTreme Hike for the second year in a row. My goal is to complete the entire 20 mile route. I am participating in this event to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis, to inspire others to keep moving, and to prove to myself that I am capable of anything I set my mind to.
Please consider donating to my fundraising efforts. Funds raised go towards extending and improving the lives of cystic fibrosis patients through research, patient care programs, and support groups.
