My Xtreme Hike Story

For the 7th year in a row, I will be taking part in the Xtreme Hike to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  This year we're hiking Marcy, Gray and Skylight.

I have taken on the challenge of raising at least $4,000 for the CF Foundation.  Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of 30,000 individuals in the US.  Research funded by the foundation has made a huge difference in extending lives for those with CF, but we still lose one life to CF each day.

I am taking on this extreme endeavor in order to be part of something bigger than myself.  I am so fortunate to have a beautiful, healthy nine year old daughter.  When I think of the parents of children with CF that may not see their child live past their 20s or 30s, it really hits home.  I'm doing this for those families; because the Foundation is on the verge of incredible scientific breakthroughs that could actually be 'the cure' for CF and give those children the ability to live long, full lives.  But the Foundation cannot do it without vital funding and volunteers that are willing to do something crazy (like hike 14 miles) to raise funds.
