My Xtreme Hike Story
My Hike Story
My sweet friend Maggie has Cystic Fibrosis. She is young, beautiful and able to live an active life because of medicines and protocols she follows that have evolved over the last 15 years. But she still has CF. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. By participating in Xtreme Hike, I am helping to raise awareness and raise funds to support CF research and treatment advances. I am hopeful that a cure can be found during Maggie's lifetime!
Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. More research, trials and genetic testing must be done to continue to help people like Maggie and maybe one day prevent CF all together.
Your support makes a difference.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you will help advance the mission for a cure for all. Please consider joining me and helping make CF stand for "Cure Found"!
I am excited to train and hike this winter and spring with a goal in mind. I will be joining my dear friend Megan (Maggie's mom) and other hikers in Sedona this April for the last push of this journey, a 17-mile hike with other participants, to raise awareness and funds to fight CF. The hike is on my birthday weekend! I am excited to celebrate on the trail for a great cause!
Thanks for your support!!!
Melissa!
