My Xtreme Hike Story
Jared and I at a wedding last November
Hello!
Thank you for visiting my page. Fred and I have taken on a challenge this year to train and participate in a 26.2 mile, single day hike to raise money and awareness to help fund research for a cure for cystic fibrosis! Your interest in helping us toward that goal means the world to us!
As many of you know, we began our crusade for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis in 1996, when our first born son, Jared, was diagnosed with this progressive and incurable disease. Since then, CF has played a huge role in shaping our lives – it has surely tested our family and caused Jared to have to make way too grown up decisions about life and death at way too young an age; but it has also made our family stronger, more resilient, and more determined than ever to be part of a solution.
Jared received a life-saving double lung transplant nearly 4 years ago and we are so grateful for his new lease on life and that it was an option for him but we are also keenly aware that it is NOT a cure. Our wish is for all people with CF to have access to better and better therapeutic options that preserve their health and quality of life until we can make CF stand for CURE FOUND!
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms and dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. We hike for all of us! Will you join us and support our fundraising goal?
With gratitude,
Rhonda (and Fred)
PS: Fred has his own fundraising page too but we consider a donation to either of us as a donation to ALL of us.
