Our Xtreme Hike Story

Thomas was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in 2006 at the age of almost 4 yeas old, and he now is in college at UMD!

There has been tremendous progress with CF and Thomas is lucky in benefiting from such advances. But there is still NO CURE. This past two years have been hard for everyone, but especially the CF community. The good news is they are used to isolate, stay six feet apart, wash their hands, wear masks, stay safe, because it is what they do EVERYDAY, it is what it is like to live with CF.

Thomas was interviwed by Cure Cf Louisville in 2020, and when asked what he wants others to know about the CF community he said everything happening with CF right now is amazing. There are so many amazing things happening with new medications, research, and fundraising across the country. He says:

             “My hope for the future is a cure in a decade or two. That no one has to live like I and many others with CF, that they experience a normal life and don’t have to take all the medication and do all the treatments that we do now. I am just thankful for everyone who donates and fundraises for people like me. It gives me hope for cure.” -Thomas Griffith
