My Xtreme Hike Story

I joined Xtreme Hike for three fantastic siblings who have Cystic Fibrosis.  I met the OReilly family in 2003 as a teacher at their elementary school.  I learned about their CF diagnosis after I became friends with their mother.  For many years, I listened to stories of hospitalizations, medications, and breathing treatments.  In 2017, the opportunity to join Xtreme Hike was presented and I jumped at the chance to do something to help these three outstanding kids.  In the 7 years and 10 Xtreme Hikes I have been involved with, I have seen many positive medical breakthroughs that have helped the O'Reilly family.  Through my Xtreme Hike journey, I have added to my "Why I Hike" list.  My list is not limited to these six individuals, Aly, Maddie, Killian, Charlotte, Hannah, and Caden, it begins with them.  I hike to raise awareness and money, but I mainly hike because we need a cure!
