My Xtreme Hike Story

Sprout is my word for this year. To reach out beyond myself to grow and to impact others.
One way I am sprouting in 2022 is the CF Foundation Xtreme Hike. A single day (30/22 miles) hike on the Appalachian Trail to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis.
The CF Foundation is the single reason my children were able to live past 5 years old. The research and new therapy developments have given them hope for a future to have careers and families( a hope they did not have 5 years ago).
I am a mom and a pediatrician. I hike out of gratitude. I hike to raise money for a cure for this terrible genetic disease. I hike to raise funds for a cure for my children. I hike for my 4 patients who have such rare mutations that their Cystic Fibrosis doesn't yet have any life changing treatment.
Cystic Fibrosis usually occurs in children who have no family history. Joining us in this fight with a donation will not only help children and adults living with CF now, but may someday mean life for someone you love!

There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. I hike for them. Will you join me and support my fundraising goal?

Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We've come so far, but there's still so much work to do. I will not stop hiking until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
