Our Xtreme Hike Story

Hello Family and Friends,

I'm happy to announce that Saturday, October 12th, is our eleventh Xtreme Hike! Caroline's Footsloggers has been a part of all eleven Xtreme Hike's. This will be my sixth year hiking for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!! Additionally, the EXCITING NEWS is that this year we will be hiking part of the ICONIC Appalachian Trail for a 30.1 mile hike!!!!

This year's hike is dedicated to my dad, Phillip D. Thompson. He is a huge advocate for Caroline and for finding a cure for CF, and he is one of my biggest cheerleaders!!!

I will once again be doing this in honor of my Amazing niece Caroline, and in memory of my Wonderful sister, Rebecca, who hiked since the beginning the first five Xtreme Hikes. Rebecca was such an inspiring advocate raising funds for CFF, and she was so passionate for hiking!! I WILL continue to carry this torch!!

Over the past several years the CFF has had SO many breakthroughs with new drugs and treatments. Fortunately in October 2019, the medicine Trikafta was released. We were beyond thrilled that Caroline was a perfect candidate for this. She has been taking Trikafta for almost five years now, and has seen wonderful results. For example, she has had a major change in her daily coughing and it is much less frequent now. For Caroline personally, Trikafta has increased her lung function by around 30% - FANTASTIC NEWS!!! However, Trikafta is Not a cure. And, Trikafta is still not available, applicable, or approved for all those with CF. Therefore, all the more reasons that we continue our fight for the CURE!

Once again, this will be a very emotional but extremely rewarding experience. I'm proud and honored to do this for our family and all those affected by Cystic Fibrosis. I ask for your prayers as I embark on this journey, and I ask for your support in helping our team, Caroline's Footsloggers, raise money for such a fantastic cause. Donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated.

Donations may be sent to my website link provided below, OR, if you prefer to donate by check, send your donation made payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central Eastern Carolina's Chapter, 7101 Creedmoor Road, Suite 130, Raleigh, NC 26713. Please remember to write on your check:
"For Caroline's Footsloggers".

Together, let's make CF stand for "Cure Found!"
Thank you in advance, with much appreciation,

Deborah Rogers

Thank you for visiting our team page!

Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening, genetic disease found in about 30,000 people in the U.S. that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breath over time. Those living with this disease are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers -- all struggling each day just to breathe.

That's why we participate in Xtreme Hike, a powerful and unique event that empowers participants across the nation to take the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis to new heights. We hike for all those living with CF to add tomorrows to their lives.

Will you join us? To become a member of our team, click the "Join our Team" button to donate and start fundraising. By becoming part of our team and making a donation you are joining a group of people committed to finding a cure for CF. Because of tremendous advancements in research, treatments, and care, many people with CF are living long enough to realize their dreams of attending college, pursuing careers, getting married, and having a family of their own.

But still, there is no cure for cystic fibrosis. Help us accelerate progress so that someday "CF" can stand for "cure found." Step up and join Xtreme Hike today.
