Like our son Ransom, there are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. Although many advances have been made in treating CF, at least 10% of patients - including Ransom - are not helped by the current medications. The CF Foundation is committed to fighting CF "until it's done" and we have found a true cure for all CF patients.
Living with a debilitating disease like cystic fibrosis takes a physical toll as well as an emotional and mental health toll. This year has been a difficult one for our family as we struggle with the impact of a possible lung transplant against a backdrop of Covid and it's serious threat to anyone with a pre-existing condition. We are grateful that Ransom (and all of us) are safe so far and Ransom is getting all of the treatment and support that he needs.
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much work to do. I will not stop striding until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
