Help add tomorrows by joining our team and/or making a donation. We can't do this alone!
We will "walk" on September 13th. This is a virtual event due to the pandemic. Please join us in spirit!
Jared's Journey was formed in 2004, shortly after Jared was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age 3. Today he keeps himself busy in a number of ways- he is a student manager for his college basketball team, attends classes, and he spends too much time on electronic devices! He is still a superfan of Texas Rangers baseball. He may look healthy on the outside, but on the inside his body is fighting a war against this progressive and harsh disease. He has endured multiple hospitalizations and medical procedures these past 16 years. Each and every day he has to work to fight this disease with multiple respiratory therapies, and he takes numerous pills to aid his digestive system, liver, and lungs. Despite his efforts to slow progression, his lung function continues to decline. We cannot stop fighting! Part of our fight involves raising funds and awareness. That is why we walk! These efforts have lead to REAL RESULTS that have directly impacted Jared's fight. TriKafta was recently approved by the FDA and the results have been remarkable for Jared and others who have CF. We are thrilled with these results BUT the fight has not been won.
CF complications eventually lead to death - Hundreds of precious lives are lost each year. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. We walk for Jared, but we also walk for them. Will you join us? Will you sponser us by making a donation?
Funds raised benefit research and therapies that aim to control, manage, and hopefully cure this disease. There are numerous research programs underway that will benefit from this funding. Please visit cff.org for more information on these programs (those in planning, process and those that have already started making a difference). Check them out on charitynavigator.org. They have excellent ratings year after year for utilizing their money responsibly.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, indoor events sponsored by the CF Foundation are strictly prohibited at this time. Scheduled outdoor events must adhere to strict requirements to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection. Events may be subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT OUTDOOR FOUNDATION EVENTS:
To minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection, attendees at CF Foundation events must adhere to the following requirements:
Practice physical distancing and maintain at least a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times
Face masks strongly encouraged and expected to be worn in accordance with local guidelines. (Note, children under two years of age should not wear masks due to safety concerns and therefore should not attend CF Foundation events where there is risk of interacting with someone outside of their household.)
Follow basic infection, prevention and control practices by regularly washing hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Persons with CF should consult their physician before participation in any in-person event as they may be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19. People with CF should maintain a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times.
