We have been very blessed this year with Madison’s health! The new medication Madison has been taking has been life changing. The research and trials for this medication was funded by the CF Foundation!! I am so excited for what's in the pipeline and what the future holds for Madison and other kiddos with CF!! We are committed to making CF stand for "Cure Found" instead of "Cystic Fibrosis"!! In doing so, we are participating in GREAT STRIDES again this year and hope you join us as well!!
With supporters like you by our side, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation continues to lead the way in the fight against CF, fueling extraordinary medical and scientific progress. For those that may not be familiar, Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects children and young adults. Advances continue to be made in finding a cure, but your help is needed now - more than ever - to help keep up the momentum of this life-saving research. Too many young lives depend on this vital research to let it go un-funded! For our Madison, this is extremely important! The life expectancy of someone born with CF has doubled in the last 30 years. As a parent of a child with CF, THIS IS OUR DREAM! Despite this progress, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies either because their disease is too advanced or because their specific genetic mutations will not respond. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day in the face of this devasting disease.
GREAT STRIDES is the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event. The GREAT STRIDES event will be on Saturday, May 21st. Please help us meet our team fund-raising goal of $5,000.00 by sponsoring Team Mad-Dawg. You can feel confident in knowing that your generous gift is used efficiently and effectively. Not only is it tax-deductible, but nearly 90 cents out of every dollar you contribute goes directly toward supporting research and specialized care that will improve the quality of life for Madie and other children with CF. Making a donation is easy and secure! Just click on Donate to make a donation to our fund-raising page where your donation will be credited to our team. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated and tax deductible! To join our team, click Join This Team, you can walk with us or join as a virtual walker! We'd love to have you as part of Team Mad-Dawg!
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of cystic fibrosis and your support matters. With your help, we can invest our resources in research today, while raising funds for tomorrow, to ensure we have what it takes to reach the finish line. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found. Please help us reach or fundraising goal!
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT FOUNDATION EVENTS:
To reduce the risk of COVID-19 the Foundation is taking steps to host safe events for our community. Please be advised that events may be subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.
To help minimize the risk of COVID-19, we ask that attendees at CF Foundation events follow these steps:
Where mandated, practice physical distancing and maintain at least a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household.
Face masks are encouraged and should be worn in accordance with local guidelines. (Note, children under two years of age should not wear masks due to safety concerns and therefore should only attend outdoor CF Foundation events where they are able to distance and stay within their family group.)
Follow basic infection, prevention and control practices by regularly washing hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, and by covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Persons with CF should consult their physician before participation in any in-person event as they may be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
For indoor events, it is CFF policy to invite only one person with CF to be in-person at the event at a time. For outdoor events, people with CF should maintain a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times.
FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS:
For the health and well-being of the CF community, we strongly encourage that participants be fully vaccinated and have received the CDC recommended booster shot when joining us in-person for the event.
Please be advised certain localities and venues may require you to be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. We will communicate these requirements in event communications.
We are counting on the fact that you appreciate the potential consequences of exposing members of the CF community to COVID-19 and will not attend an event if you are feeling ill or have been recently exposed to COVID-19.
We cannot guarantee that all people in attendance at the event, including participants, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, or others, have been fully vaccinated.
