Dear, Family & Friends,
As you know both of my daughter's Melissa and Makayla have Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States. Melissa and Makayla were both diagnosed after birth and have been on daily medications and breathing treatments ever since. With out these medications and inhaled medications our daughters would be really sick.
This year, I'm walking in my local Great Strides walk on Saturday, Septembr 12, 2020 in Addison TX and need your help to meet my fundraising goal.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. On October 21,2019 the FDA approved a new drug for CF. Trikafta™ is a highly effective therapy for the underlying cause of cystic fibrosis. It is approved for use in people with CF ages 12 and older who have at least one copy of the F508del mutation. Melissa startd taking Trikafta on January 1,2020 and her lung funcation has gone up 20%, she doesn't have her CF cough anymore and she has lots of energy. Makayla will get to start taking this when she is 12.
By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis.
