Our daughter was born in 1992. The CF gene had only been identified 3 years before, and one of the mutations that Emily has was only identified in 1992. When the gene was discovered in 1989, many believed that the cure was right around the corner. Although we are now 29 years down the road from the discovery, there still isn't a cure. And yet, even though there isn't a cure, there have been huge strides made. New medicines are impacting the lives of so many in ways that I wasn't sure we would see in our daughter's life. The CF Foundation has partnered with companies like Vertex and others to do something that no one has ever been able to do. The breakthroughs are amazing & yet there is still so much more work that needs to be done. Please consider donating to my Great Strides campaign. We are so thankful for each and every donation so that one day SOON, CF can stand for Cure Found and Emily and all those living with Cystic Fibrosis can live a long & healthy life!
