Dear Friends, Family and Supporters,

Whew! The past two years have been like no other for the world and for the Cystic Fibrosis community. The COVID-19 pandemic caused hundreds of events and fundraisers to be cancelled including the annual Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk in 2020 and 2021. But we are back – IN PERSON. The 2022 Omaha Great Strides Walk will be held May 21.

We want to thank you for your support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in the past. Thanks to the generous donations and prayers of friends like you, people with CF are living longer, fuller, healthier lives including our grand nieces Alexa and Presley. Despite their lives being structured around twice-daily airway clearance, nebulizer and inhalant treatments, a myriad of oral medications and enzymes, and regular checkups, the girls have managed to live active and rewarding lives.

Alexa is now 16 and a sophomore in high school. She has been on a life changing drug therapy called Trikafta, which has provided amazing improvements in lung function, weight gain and overall quality of life. As a result, she is able to navigate a busy schedule of classes and outside activities like speech, choir and theater. She was even selected to the Nebraska All State choir this past year!

Presley is 10 and a fourth grader. She, too, is doing well in school, is a budding basketball and volleyball star and consistently punishes her great aunt and uncle in board games! Presley is also now on Trikafta with the same positive results.

As we celebrate our progress, we are reminded our work is not finished. We continue to focus on treatments for individuals with the rarest CF mutations (5-7% of the CF population) who have no access to life-changing therapies. We continue to fund new research and technologies that will help us reach our ultimate goal: a cure for everyone with CF. With your support, we are confident that we will realize that dream.
