Friends & Family-
The pandemic has been challenging for all of us this past year. For me, adding cystic fibrosis (CF) on top has created even more challenges and sacrifice to stay healthy. However, I feel beyond grateful to say that I’m now fully vaccinated. There is hope on the horizon.
I continue to feel hope for the CF community and all of the research advancements that have been made, thanks in part to all of you who support CF with your dollars through Team Lydia. We’ve made so much progress, and I am excited for you to join me as we celebrate several Team Lydia milestones this year. In particular, I’m thrilled to announce that I’m serving as one of the 2021 National Great Strides Ambassadors!
Serving as a National Great Strides Ambassador is a fitting way to commemorate 20 years of Team Lydia. I started Team Lydia in 2001 after I was diagnosed with CF to learn more and become part of the CF community. Great Strides has held a special place in my heart ever since more than 200 people showed up to support me during Team Lydia’s first year. To be able to spread awareness on a national platform is incredibly humbling.
In May I will also celebrate my 30th birthday. While entering into a new decade is already exciting it holds special meaning for me. When I was first diagnosed with CF I was told that 32 was of the average lifespan of individuals with CF. Now, average life expectancy is over 40 years old.
There is no better way to celebrate these milestones than to continue raising money to fight for a cure for CF. This year, my goal is to raise $30,000 for the 30 years I have crushed living with CF. Any amount counts and is truly appreciated. Simply click the ‘Donate to Lydia’ button to contribute.
CF will one day stand for cure found and I won’t stop until it’s done!
