My daughter, Makenzie, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis around 7 months of age. At that time the life expectancy of a person born with CF was 30 years old; today a child born with CF has a life expectancy of nearly 50! The advances in research and development of treatments has greatly improved longevity and quality of life.
Our main challenge today is medication management. The cost of treating a CF patient is incredibly hard to manage; a single medication can cost upwards of $1,000 per day and hundreds of thousands per year. Research for these medications and support to help patients obtain these medications is crucial. You can help!
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
