May 10th, 2005...14 years ago. The day we found out Alex had CF. A day of fear, great sadness and uncertainty about where Alex's life, and ours, was headed. Today, I look back and see how much has changed and how much Alex has fought and worked daily to make his life his own, one not defined by his disease. Today I am so very thankful. Thankful for the doctors that take chances and try new therapies and meds, the nurses that listen and take my many calls, the friends and family that have supported us and loved us through the terrible days and the celebratory days. I am thankful for the CF foundation and all the research that they support and PROGRESS. New meds have changed Alex's days and his future.
Daily, he battles with his disease, but more importantly, he works hard to make the most of every day. Works to make the shot in basketball, throw his favorite pitch in baseball, sing in the chorus, and dance on the stage. He loves every moment with his friends, and embraces hs family. I will forwever call him my CF warrior for his true love of live, his commitment to his treatments and meds, doctor appointments, is positivity and fighting attitude when he's sick. All if it makes him my Alex. When we cure this disease it will be an amazing day and one I will continue to work for so that Alex and so many other can stand together and say that CF stands for CURE FOUND!
Join us for Great Strides to celebrate life, hope and all of those that fight and support this disease.
