Why I Strive to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis

Since I began working at Glass City Federal Credit Union nearly ten years ago, I found out a lot more about Cystic Fibrosis (CF) than I ever knew:

I found out that:

• CF is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time

• I found out that real progress is being made every day in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short.

• I found out that one of my co-workers and a close childhood friend have grandchildren with this devastating disease. And that there are over 30,000 more children and adults in our nation who struggle just to breathe every day with CF.

That’s why I walk, raise funds, and make personal donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). The CFF is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for CF, and nearly every CF-specific drug available today was made possible through financial support.

I am truly honored that the CFF Michigan/Northwest Ohio Chapter named my employer, Glass City Federal Credit Union, “Volunteer of the Year” for 2021 and recognized me as a 2021 “Hero of Hope.”
