I've known my husband, Ryan, since middle school and it wasn't until the past couple of years that I truly understood the devastation of cystic fibrosis. Ryan was fortunate enough to life a pretty healthy/normal life with minmal hospitalizations until his mid/late 20s. The past few years I watched my husband slipping away and our future together looking shorter and shorter. We missed out on weddings, trips, time with family and friends and so much more because our life became consumed with CF. We were starting to lose hope until he started a new drug, Trikafta, that was still in trial and this medicine has changed our lives. We wouldn't have been able to get this without the CF foundation and that is why I am walking this year. Ryan is much better but he still has a much room to improve and not everyone with CF has been forunate to have these outcomes with the new meds that have recently been released. I'm hopeful that with support of the CF Foundation more medical breakthroughs will be coming that will benefit Ryan and everyone else suffering from this horrible disease.
For too long, cystic fibrosis, a rare, genetic disease, has robbed people of tomorrows – progressively limiting their ability to breathe and tragically shortening life. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with CF. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day in the face of this devasting disease.
I walk for them. Will you join me and support my Great Strides fundraising goal?
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short.
By walking with me in Great Strides, you can help accelerate the Foundation’s pursuit of new therapies and provide vital support to meet the needs of the CF community.
Please support me!
Your participation will help us get one step closer to ending this terrible disease. Let’s make CF stand for Cure Found.
