I have been fundraising and walking in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides walk since 2013 in memory of Mark, Dan and Lisa Palermo who passed away far too early in their life due to cystic fibrosis. That being said, 2023 will be the last year that I will lead the Palermo Warriors team.
I want to give the world’s biggest shoutout to the family and friends who have walked with me and donated throughout the years. We've been able to raise around $80,000 these past 10 years for the CFF who helped support the development of a medication that has significantly improved the quality of life for thousands of CF patients. For me personally, I haven’t had any major CF exacerbations in 4 YEARS (cue happy tears). And yet there is still more work to be done in order to find a cure. Which is why we hope we can make this last year as a team count by adding even more funds to the $80k we've raised thus far. If you’d like to help, join us at the walk or donate to the team if you're able.
As much as I deeply wish Mark, Dan and Lisa could have experienced this breakthrough drug, I like to think that they have been cheering us on in spirit as we’ve walked and fundraised in their memory since day one. I will always support this cause until a CURE is found. In the meantime I'm going to get out there and continue living my best, healthiest life.
Breathe easy. Love, Alyssa
