I truly have no words to describe how much I miss my very special nephew Brian.  Brian's life was a testament to courage, resilience, and compassion. Since his earliest years, his charming personality and unwavering determination made him a recognizable figure in the fight against cystic fibrosis. He dedicated himself to raising awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Massachusetts/Rhode Island Chapter, helping to raise millions of dollars to combat this genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems.

Brian and our family played a pivotal role in launching the inaugural Walk to Cure Cystic Fibrosis, collaborating with the Massachusetts State Police to organize annual charity walks from Boston City Hall Plaza to Boston Children's Hospital, a prominent CF patient-care facility, as well as Massachusetts General Hospital. These walks laid the foundation for larger fundraisers, including the nationally recognized Great Strides to Cure CF, which raises millions annually for the CF Foundation. Brian's involvement went beyond advocacy; he was an ambassador for those fighting cystic fibrosis. His infectious smile and natural charisma made him a trusted leader, uniting a broad network of family, friends, and volunteers in the cause. His boundless generosity and compassion touched the lives of many.

Despite the challenges posed by his illness, Brian lived life to the fullest. In 2008, Brian underwent a double lung transplant, which gave him a new lease on life. He embraced this second chance with gusto, enjoying travel, yachting, and cherishing moments with his loved ones. He showed us all that even in the darkest of times, there is always room for laughter, love, dancing and belting out some disco tunes!

This year's Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk on May 11th at Quinsigamond State Park in Worcester, MA holds a special place in our hearts as we come together to honor the memory of Brian C. Long who bravely battled Cystic Fibrosis for 51 years before passing away this past June.
