Bear Brigade

Hi Family and Friends!

In this strange, strange time, we've decided to add another "first" to the list of things 2020 has brought our way.  It is a big year for the CFF - 65 years since the Foundation was first formed to help raise funds and awareness of cystic fibrosis.  Please see the video on Heather's personal page for more information on why "65" has a special meaning to the CF community (click on my name above, and then on the picture of Heather and Liz).  The Bear Brigade (formerly Team Elizabeth) has participated in Great Strides (the largest fundraiser for CFF) since Liz was first diagnosed at 22 months (She turns 25 this year!). This event is usually held in May, and we planned to go big in our fundraising efforts this year because of the 65th anniversary and because we are so excited to see the positive difference the latest Foundation-sponsored medication Trikafta has made for so many people with CF, including Liz.  However, along came Covid-19 and Great Strides was first postponed to the fall and then cancelled as a live event. So here we are - virtually fundraising!  

For so many of us,the Covid-19 pandemic has meant an extra focus on what it means to breathe easily and how frightening it would be to have that ability compromised. This is why we raise money to support groundbreaking science that has lead to treatments that truly improve the lives of all those who have CF. The fact that 10% of people with CF cannot yet benefit from these modulators is a thought that keeps us up at night. We cannot take a break in our quest for a true cure for everyone who suffers from CF.  We invite you to join Bear Brigade in making this our most amazing fundraising year ever.
