JenniLynn is finishing up 2nd grade and turns 8 on May 11. This year she has improved so much in her reading. She loves math (which makes my heart happy) but her favorite subject is science. She likes doing experiments.
JenniLynn had a huge milestone this past year. In September, she and I attended a weekend Girl Scout event. She did her vest therapy and breathing treatments out in the bunks where her friends were able to see. It may sound simple but it was a BIG deal. She wasn’t embarrassed or ashamed. I was so incredibly proud of her. She was nervous of what everyone was going to say but her friends were so kind to her and asked questions about what she was doing.
When JenniLynn was little, CF dictated much of what we did. I thought about it constantly and worried about how JenniLynn would grow up with it. Now that we are in the midst of her growing up, I find myself focusing less on her CF and more on who she is as a person. (Which is how it should be.) Second grade was a tough year for her socially but she is getting through it. JenniLynn is growing in her relationship with the Lord daily and she impresses me with the questions she asks and the things she thinks about. CF is a part of her life but is not who she is.
