I taught with Tula's grandmother, Lucy Carey, for many years, and her son , B.J. was a classmate of youngest son, Tony. At that time, I had no grandchildren of my own, so Lucy was kind enough to share hers with me for a few years. I loved Mazzy and was so excited to learn that a new little girl would soon be joining the Carey clan. I worried and prayed like crazy when I learned that this little one, however, had cystic fibrosis. Tula has had many challenges to overcome with this disease, but has proved herself over and over again to be a true fighter. She is a character ( once, when I was recovering from pneumonia she tod her grandma Lucy that I could borrow her "bump bump vest"), and touches all who come to know her, My dogs, Otis and Max loved their "play dates" with Tula and her big sister Mazzy and look forward to visits when the family returns to Iowa. I walk for Tula and hope you will support me in my efforts.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of Tula and all the other people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
