On Sunday, June 4th I will be participating with my family in the Cystic Fibrosis GREAT STRIDES walk.
This year marks the 20th ANNIVERSARY that I have been fundraising for this amazing event. What makes this anniversary even more special is that my brother and niece will be by my side. They have always supported this event, but our residential locations have prevented us from being able to do it at the same time, in the same place. To be able to honor our late brother, Shawn Alan, physically together, brings me so much joy.
Our brother lost his battle with this disease at the young age of 10 years old. He was a spunky, stubborn kid who fought as hard as he could to try and live a normal life like his two siblings. He lived up to his big brother duties and annoyed us as much as he could. What he didn’t know is that he taught us the will to fight and never give up.
He was my brother’s idol, his best friend, his protector. He was the OLDER big brother to me. He would have preferred a dog rather than a baby sister. He was my warrior. He is the missing piece in my heart.
Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, life-threatening, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. It creates thick sticky mucus that breakdown the organs. In people who have CF, thick mucus clogs the airways and makes it difficult to breathe.
As we take precious steps towards a cure, will you please consider supporting us with a DONATION ?
Everyone should be able to grow old with their idol, best friend, protector, warrior…Thank You!
