Great News: The median life expectancy for someone born with CF today has increased to 56! Most kids will live much healthier, more unencumbered lives than my brother, Jason, and I did growing up. They are diagnosed at or before birth and, if eligible, can take Trikafta as infants, thanks to YOUR DONATION DOLLARS!
Less Great News: While those of us on Trikafta are living longer (a miracle!!!), it does not reverse the decades of lung, liver, pancreatic, damage, or stop comorbities such as GI issues, nasal polyps, CF related diabetes. We are more prone to colon cancer, osteoporosis, chronic inflammation and antibiotic resistance.
Not Great News: There is no cure. At least 10% of people with CF do not have a CFTR modulator like Trikafta and are still living in and out of the hospital, on IV antibiotics and eventually getting lung and other organ transplants to extend their lives until a cure is found.
With your generous support, we can get there. Please consider making a donation.
