If you can't place the face, this is Matthew Corti, world famous Formula 1 race car driver. Matthew will turn four on August 31st. Like many boys his age he loves cars, trucks, Manhattan construction sites, his blade scooter and recently has developed an interest in the Roosevelt Island Tram. He is bright, inquisitive and has a great sense of humor. What separates Matthew from most children his age is Cystic Fibrosis. His days begin and end with chest therapy and before each meal he takes enzymes which allow him to properly process food. It is his "normal" and he never complains. But while he accepts it, we will not, which is why we have declared war and formed an army.....Matthew's Warriors.
Over the past twenty five years there has been great progress in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis and in the past twenty four months drug breakthroughs have actually reversed symptoms in some patients. We are so close to finding treatments for the rest but we need help. It is said that money buys science and science extends lives. That is where we come in. On June 1st I will be walking with Matthew's Warriors in Great Strides, the CF Foundation's principal fundraising event. Your financial support would be greatly appreciated, as would your prayers and positive energy.
